THE BLIND MESSENGER RUNE 98 |
The Blind Messenger, Forrest's seventh release, can almost be considered a summation of all the work he has done over the last 15+ years. Unlike his last few releases, you can hear more of his roots as an "electronic" musician, while he has simultaneously also integrated the many ethnic instruments & non-Western classical music forms that he has been seriously studying since the mid 80's. This is a very special & mature work which we think will find great ressonance with fans of modern unclassifiable musics such as Jon Hassell, Robert Rich, & Terry Riley. |
FOLKLORE RUNE 68 |
Forrest combines influences and instruments of many lands together with a modern esthestic and electronic instruments. Forrest plays violin, sampler, and instruments from Bali, Botswana, China, India, Java, Kenya, Mexico, Mongolia, Syria and Thailand. His music is neither traditional nor "world music", but a personal mixture of influences instrumentation. "Folklore is an exceptional record." - The Wire "Fang's story-like suites are full of changes and exotic turns that always have an underpinning melodicism and atmosphere." - Billboard "A fine meditative album." - Facelift
