"They truly deserve the title of power trio. Essentially a rock album, but with some very diverse influences...full of power and complexity" - Wonderous Stories
Forever Einstein are an instrumental guitar/bass/drums progressive rock outfit whose roots include musical forms not normally associated with ‘progressive rock’, such as blues, bluegrass, cartoon and film noir soundtracks, surf-rock, western swing and other very American musical forms that stretch back 50 years or more. Additionally, they add a lot of humor into their work, which makes for a musical twist. They use familiar musical elements in unfamiliar and interesting ways, and as a consequence, their music is somehow quite familiar, while being startlingly different.
"...eccentric, highly original instrumental music that is stimulating, musically challenging and remarkably accessible...the group show that music can be complex, category defining and far reaching and have innate melodic content. Despite the complexities of the music, the trio has a remarkably clean and uncluttered sound." - Mick Skidmore, Relix

RACKET SCIENCE RUNE 206 |
For their fifth album, Einstein keep many of their trademarked sounds and moves in place while changing some aspects to keep everything fresh. In addition to guitarist/composer Charles O'Meara (formerly C.W. Vrtacek) and drummer John Roulat, the band now features a new bassist, Kevin Gerety, who plays an electric double bass, and his bow work and slides features nicely on some of the tracks. You may love them or you may not, but NO ONE else sounds remotely like Forever Einstein! "...a must have for the ardent fan of progressive rock or perhaps any rock related genre, as this gang produces a distinct style and methodology that is perhaps unparalled in the business" - Glenn Astarita, All About Jazz This is very possibly their best album yet. |
DOWN WITH GRAVITY RUNE 136 |
Forever Einstein use guitar, electric bass, & a
wonderfully idiosyncratic drummer to unique ends, performing well
thought out & playful instrumental rock music that is highlighted
by a great sense of dynamics & sensitivity from all. ''...eccentric, highly original instrumental music that is
stimulating, musically challenging & remarkably accesible...the
group shows that music can be complex, category defining & far
reaching & have innate melodic content. Despite the complexities of
the music, the trio has a remarkably clean & uncluttered sound.
Guitarist C.W. Vrtacek is a phenomenal player with an expansive sound.
All in all a thoroughly inventive album.'' - Relix "...one of the most impressive and entertaining
instrumental prog rock discs of all time. It’s that good." - Brad
Smith, Billboard Guide To Progressive |
ONE THING AFTER ANOTHER RUNE 106 |
Back in action after far too long, Forever Einstein return with
One Thing After Another. Einstein explores the
possibilities of the simplest of rock line-ups; the guitar/bass/drums
trio. They produce energized music that you can feel AND think about by
taking the power and aggression of rock and applying more adventurous
compositional techniques than most rock music gets treated to.
Einstein's previous CDs and immediately identifiable "power trio with
smarts" sound has won them a broad range of acclaim. All three players
are really superlative musicians, & there is a ton of great ideas
percolating around here. |
OPPORTUNITY CROSSES THE BRIDGE RUNE 41 |
Opportunity Crosses The Bridge, the
band's second release, has a strong rock feel which deftly avoids the
mindlessness which much contemporary rock has degenerated into. By
taking the power and aggression of rock and applying more adventurous
compositional techniques than most rock music gets treated to, Forever
Einstein produces energized music that you can feel AND think about.
The Connecticut-based group was founded in 1989. All three members have
backgrounds in rock, blues, and other types of popular music.
Opportunity Crosses the Bridge was produced by guitarist Nick Didkovsky
of Doctor Nerve. "...crammed with spiky Euro-rock melodies... imagine the
Minutemen playing Henry Cow charts." - Rolling Stone "A genuinely individual voice: simple and complex at once"

ARTIFICIAL HORIZON RUNE 25 |
Artificial Horizon, the band's first
release, has a strong rock feel which deftly avoids the mindlessness
which much contemporary rock has degenerated into. Forever Einstein
produces energized music that you can feel, move to, and think about.
This was the bands first release and it shows how their signature
'power trio with smarts' sound was in place from the very beginning. |
